Shelly received a BFA Degree in Dance from The Ohio State University. During her college years, she did extensive studies in the areas of Modern, Ballet and Jazz. She also taught Creative Dance and was a member of the University Dance Company. Shelly was a performer, choreographer and instructor with the professional modern dance company of Dancentral. Shelly also taught at the Dance Arts School in Boca Raton, Florida and for the Professional Dance Teachers Association. She is a member of the National Ballet Organization, the Cecchetti Council of America. Shelly studied baton in California and also with Sandy Meyers of Boca Raton, Florida, where their Baton Troupe won the Florida State Championship. Shelly has also choreographed several productions for Little Theatre of New Philadelphia and has collaborated with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic.
In 1990, Shelly's love of dance and passion to teach others led to the start of the Tuscarawas Dance Arts Center in downtown Dover, Ohio. Shelly has resided in Dover for 28 years with her husband, Jeff and their two children.
